Matt Lavers

Matt Lavers

Matt has been working for the NHS as a Cardiac Rehabilitation exercise instructor for 4 years. His main interests are exercise for older adults to support independent living and cardiac rehabilitation. Matt has a strong academic background and keeps up to date with current research in the exercise world especially associated with cardiac health. Matt previously worked in health food sector and specialised in sports nutrition before going to University to study Sport and Exercise Science.

With the world of exercise becoming ever more convoluted and alienating to a wide section of society, Matt wanted to show how exercise is not just about the "beach body" and "lifting huge weights" but how it can support individuals lead healthier more independent lives and help people achieve their fitness related goals whether that be walking to the shop or competing in sport. From this philosophy M.L. Health and Fitness was born and firstly set out to show co-workers the benefits of exercise and how enjoyable getting fit can be (they don't always agree).

Matt is great at adapting exercises to suit a wide range of abilities and brings a lot of energy and encouragement to 1:1 or group sessions (Unfortunately this energy can often result in singing, dancing and terrible jokes).
